Citrus County's unemployment rate dropped for the third straight, but remains the second highest in Florida.
The March unemployment rate for Citrus County was 4.9%, according to Sumter County for second worst in the state, according to to Florida Department of Economic Opportunity Figures released Friday
Gulf County has the highest unemployment rate in Florida at 5.3%. The state average is 3.3%.
Still, Citrus numbers are dropping. The unemployment rate for February in Citrus was 5.3% and 5.9% in January. A year ago, the unemployment rate was 5.2%.
Monroe County continues to have the lowest unemployment rate in the state at 2.3% in March.
