Half-Genie Hero goes full anime
After teasing us with some sketches earlier in the week, WayForward has released the opening animation for the upcoming action adventure sequel Shantae 5 . The short film was created by Studio Trigger from Little Witch Academia fame that has clearly gone Full Anime with Scuttle Town.
Accompanied by a new title track with Shantae's voice artist, Cristina Vee, the 30th Second Clip, our girl who jumps out of bed to fight the paternal pirate Risky Boots and her Tinkerbat army. We also get to see friends at the end of Rottytops, Bolo, Skye and even Uncle Mimic. All straight lines, crazy proportions and sharp corners are far from the somewhat softer artwork of former Shantae titles (since the franchise tends to change its style slightly with each release.)
Of course, nothing here gives much of an idea of how the game itself will look or play for that matter. If we want to start reaching – which I generally do not do – we see her monkey form here, pointing to Shanta's famous animal changes. I am also intrigued by the shots of all his friends who propagate attacks – even Uncle Mimic – can it point to a multi-character action? Again, this is purely irresponsible guesswork on my part. Forget I said something.
Hope hope WayForward is set to knock it out of the park and give Shantae fans their biggest wishes for this last hunt through Sequin Land. Considering that this is my most anticipated title of the year, I was very crossed.
Shantae 5 is still scheduled for release later this year on PS4, PC, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Apple Arcade.
