It’s the little details that set a great app apart from a great one. Being aware of how UI elements affect each other may not seem important, but it can go a long way in improving the end-user experience. To that end, Google has added some cool new animations to its Gmail app on Android, making managing your email much more fluid.

Starting with the latest version of Gmail, new animated icons appear when you archive, delete, move, delay, or select a read message. Depending on your gesture, a trash can is closed, an envelope is opened, or a file is moved. This bloom is on top of the alternate colors that each action is assigned, giving some extra context to a given finger slide. While undoubtedly a small touch, it makes ironing to delete or archive an email seem more responsive.

As always, the gestures displayed on your phone will depend on the slide actions you have selected in the app’s settings menu. To see the new animations on Android, you need to run version 2021.03.07 or later. You can update the app on your phone in the Play Store or get the latest version from APK Mirror.
