Cadence Of Hyrule Review – NecroDancer meets Zelda



The most surprising thing about Cadence of Hyrule is, despite being so unusual, how much it immediately feels like a Zelda game. Aesthetically, it sits somewhere between A Link to the Past and cartoonier Four Swords games, but its Zelda roots run much deeper than that; This is not just the Crypt of the NecroDancer reskinned. Much like The Legend of Zelda: A connection between Worlds on 3DS, Cadence is a shorter, smaller riff on the classic 2D Zelda template with a unique twist, a game that will hit a chord with fans for a long time, but also feels fresh and exciting.

In the game, Cadence (the leading role of Crypt of the NecroDancer) in Hyrule is opened by a mysterious swirl and must choose whether to wake either Link or Zelda. Then the game is quite open ̵

1; you are exploring a randomized overworld map in search of classic Zelda elements and the four dungeons to be completed before you can interfere with Hyrule Castle, which has fallen to the game's great bad, the villainous musician Octavo. You will eventually unlock both characters (and possibly two others), but being able to play like Zelda from the start is wonderful and feels like a long-lasting correction of the series' namesake often sidelined.
