Bruce Willis returns as John McClane for Hilarious New Commercial

As teased over the weekend, John McClane is officially back. On Sunday morning, Advance Auto Parts launched a massive new advertising campaign featuring Bruce Willis’ McClane. While fans may have been hoping for a movie release or something like that, the new commercial, which serves as the start of a major campaign, should whet the appetite for Die hard fans everywhere – especially since it contains extras Die hard commas other than Willis.

Throughout the extended two-minute TV spot, Argyle (De̵

7;voreaux White) and Theo (Clarence Gilyard) also show up to help (or prevent) McClane through his quest to find a new car battery. Practically enough, Advance launches a new battery line with the brand DIE HARD Batteries, and fittingly enough, they managed to get a couple of their teammates back for at least one more hurray.

There are a few other fun Easter eggs throughout the commercial, including a time when Willis’ character is forced to climb through an air duct to escape the Advance Auto Parts store safely. See the site in its entirety above.

Since McClane’s return has been confirmed to be part of a marketing stunt, fans will still have to hold out hope of a possible return to film or television. At one point, Willis and producer Lorenzo diBonaventura developed a sixth Die hard girl with the title McClane.

The film was set to serve as Willis’ swan song as the character, though it was eventually scrapped after the merger between 20th Century Fox and Disney. It is now unclear whether Disney plans to restart development on the franchise under its 20th Century Studios brand.

“You can tell our intent with the fact that the title page we submitted says ‘McCLANE,'” producer Lorenzo diBonaventura told Empire in 2018. “We want you to be invested in John McClane more than ever.”

“I do not know how you feel Die hard without Bruce, ”he added. “The idea that he is not very prominent in this film is not accurate at all. We have to explore John McClane in his twenties. But just as prominent is the 60-year-old version. ”
