Braden Holtby left the Capitals-Blue Jackets game in the second period after a dangerous game in the curl.
The Vezina Trophy winning goaltender absorbed a high stick to his left eye from Cam Atkinson.
Atkinson's stick appears to attach Holtby's eye through its mask. The game was 8:43 in the stanza. According to NBC Sports Washington, Holtby carries contacts.

After using the entire TV timeout on the Capitals bench, you get treatment from Jason Serbus, Holtby did not feel good enough to continue and gave the ice to back-up goaltender Pheonix Copley .
Atkinson got a two minute less for high adhesion.
During the second break, the chapters announced that Holtby would not return to the game.

Holtby made 10 saves on 11 shots in the game and gives only a breakaway goal to Atkinson in the first minute of the first period.
