Boston news anchor Alaina Pinto has been fired by WHDH station for appearing in Adam Sandler’s new Netflix Halloween movie, Hubie Halloween.
“Earlier this week, I was released from 7 News,” Pinto tweeted Thursday. “I am sending this because I want to be open and honest with you all. Last year, I starred in a como in Adam Sandler’s recently released Netflix movie, ‘Hubie Halloween.’ “The movie bowed out on October 7 on the streamer.
The appearance was a violation of Pinto’s contract, which she said she “mistakenly violated.”
“I am deeply disappointed and saddened, and I hoped that was not how things developed,” Pinto wrote. “Thank you to all my wonderful 7 newscasts and my supportive and good colleagues at the station.”
The film is set for October 31 in Salem, Massachusetts. Sandler, the city’s eccentric, is in the middle of a real investigation for a real killer.
Pinto played a news anchor for a fictional Boston TV station, Channel 4 Morning News, and hosted his morning show “Wake Up, Boston.” The como saw Pinto talk about the Salem Halloween festivities while dressed as DC Comics character Harley Quinn.
Prior to joining WHDH, Pinto worked for Fox Local 44 and ABC Local 22 in Burlington, Vermont.
