Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night takes its Castlevania inspirations to another level with its new Classic Mode. You only have a sword whip that you can ward off enemies with as you guide Miriam through a castle, including five stages and underbosses, on her way to battle the great evil, Gebel. If you manage to complete Classic Mode, which has three difficulty settings, the game will evaluate you on your time, your score and the number of deaths.
Classic Mode does not adopt a full 8-bit aesthetic – the graphics displayed in the trailer are not exactly pixelated. However, the interface certainly has an old-school vibe, and the nuclear weapon is clearly a tag on Castlevania’s Whip Sword.
