Black widow star Scarlett Johansson was originally informed of her character’s death in Avengers: Endgame by phone by Marvel boss Kevin Feige.

In blockbuster in 2019, which now holds the record for second-highest ticket office ever, Natasha Romanoff sacrifices herself so that Jeremy Reners Hawkeye / Clint Barton can pick up Soul Stone.

“Kevin Feige called me, our boss at Marvel; I think he was nervous about telling me that and sorry and said something along the lines of, ‘We all expected some big victims,’ ‘ “Johansson told BBC Radio 1 recently.

“It did not surprise me that it was a choice Nat would have made. I knew she had to feel at peace with that decision and that she did it out of love.

“It had to feel like she was determined in that decision and that the decision was hers. And that it was not something that happened to her because so much of her life has happened to her.”
