Black Friday TV Deals: $ 250 TCL 55-inch, $ 398 Samsung 58-inch, Sony OLED for sale now

This story is part of Holiday Gift Guide 2020, CNET’s gift selection with expert advice, reviews and recommendations for the latest technical gifts for you and your family.

You do not have to wait Black Friday or Cyber Monday to get great deals on TV, sales have already begun! Major retailers started their sales earlier than ever this holiday season. Best buy and Goal launches their sales events on Sunday, November 22 and several retailers inclusive Walmart, also spread their sales over days and weeks before Black Friday itself (technically 27 November this year). Most importantly, they will focus on online orders and smooth, contactless pickup to maintain social distance.

Something that hasn’t changed, though, is that no matter where or how you shop on vacation, this is the best time of year to get a great deal on a TV. Below you will find all of them best Black Friday TV deals we know about right now if you are looking for a new TV (for yourself or as a gift!). Please note that prices and inventory are subject to change without notice, but were correct at the time of publication.

Best buy

TCL is best known for its Roku TVs and we like the Roku smart TV system better than the Android TV version of this TV, but at this price you can just buy a Roku Streaming Stick Plus, attach it to this TV and still get out front. Aside from its smarts, we expect this 4-series TV to perform “good enough”, just like the Roku equivalent.

Note that this was $ 50 cheaper last week, and it may therefore be again – but for now, it’s still a really solid deal on a 55-inch smart TV.

Although this Samsung is currently listed as part of Walmart’s sale on November 25, it is available now at Best Buy for the same price. It’s not the cheapest TV on the market at this size, and we expect models like the Vizio M series (which have local dimming) to work better, but if you like the Samsung brand, it’s a very good price.

We have not reviewed this OLED, but we expect its image quality to be similar to the LG CX (as in: spectacular), and at best buy, the 65-inch size at a deep sale is currently smaller than the CX. We still take the CX, though mainly because Sony lacks groundbreaking gaming equipment. But if that doesn’t matter to you – or you like Sony better for some reason – this is a great deal.

Best Black Friday deals coming soon

The following offers are not yet available, but they will be coming soon. Patience, Padawan acts.

We’ve seen 70-inch TVs come down to $ 400, but it’s still a very good price for a giant TV. This model (V705x-H1) is very similar to the V705-H3, which is currently selling for $ 660. The V series is Vizio’s cheapest TV in 2020, and while we have not reviewed it, we expect entry-level picture quality: good enough for those most people, but not as good as something like the M-Series.

This agreement will be available online from 16:00 PT (19:00 ET) Wednesday, November 25th.

This is technically a deal after Black Friday, but it’s still good enough to include here. This is a spectacular price for a 50-inch TV, so expect it to sell almost instantly.

Black Friday deals that are sold out or expired

The offers below are mostly gone, but since they could come back anytime, we’ll keep them here for now.

The best TV we’ve ever reviewed is in a whole different league compared to doorbusters on this list, and this is the best award of the year. We do not expect it to fall too much further this year, but even if it does, the fall in prices will not be massive. Read our review of the LG CX series.

The 55-inch above is excellent, but if you can afford it, get this 65-inch instead. This is the cute spot size for the LG CX – it’s big enough to really appreciate its amazing image quality. Read our review of the LG OLEDCX series.

This slightly larger Insignia recently sold for $ 150, but Best Buy cut another $ 10 off the price.

The best TV deal in Target’s early Black Friday sale is on another 70-inch TV we haven’t reviewed. LG’s OLED set (see below) delivers a much better picture, but if you can not afford a better TV and Hisense above does not appeal to you, this is still a very good price.

This deal is currently sold out online, but may be available at your local store.

Best buy

We have not reviewed this set and based on its specifications, we do not expect it to match the image quality of the best 75-inch models, but if you prioritize a large image over anything else, this is the cheapest price we have seen in a 70-inch TV, period. Like TCL above, it runs Android TV.

Speaking of TCL, this is the best price we’ve seen on a 55-inch TV this year. It’s pretty much the same as the 55S425, which we liked so much, for about half the lowest price of this model all the time. Like the Onn TV above, we expect it to sell fast.

This TV is the first item listed in Walmart’s November 11 before Black Friday ad, so expect it to sell quickly. The retailer’s Onn brand is not known for world-class image quality, but we expect it to work just as well as the TCL 4 Series (see below), and it has the same amazing Roku operating system.

We have not reviewed Vizio’s first OLED TV yet – the company has been delayed with shipping tests due to COVID-19 – but Vizio TV has performed well in previous reviews, and this price compared to something like CX above may be too good to give up.

As with the LG CX above, there is also a 65-inch size for sale (again only for Best Buy members) for $ 1,500.

Please note that this agreement has expired (although it may return soon) and when it was available it was reserved for Best Buy members only.
