Black Friday Roku, Fire TV and Chromecast deals are now alive: Top models start as low as $ 17

This story is part of Holiday Gift Guide 2020, CNET’s gift selection with expert advice, reviews and recommendations for the latest technical gifts for you and your family.

Why wait Black Friday? Sales have already started on almost all of our favorite Roku, Fire TV and Chromecast devices, and we’ve pulled them all here. This page brings together the best deals Amazon, Best buy, Walmart and other places. Many of these sales were announced from November 22 to November 25, but almost all of them already appear to be live. Highlights:

  • New low-end Roku devices, including $ 30 for our Editors Choice Roku Streaming Stick Plus and $ 1
00 for the new Roku Streambar.
  • Four TV sticks and Four TV units go back to an all-time low starting at just $ 18.
  • The new Chromecast packages six months of Netflix’s standard plan with a great discount, or you can get the older Chromecast for under $ 20 in just a few days.

Truth be told, we always choose a Roku or Chromecast with Google TV over Fire Stick, but Amazon’s streamer offerings have also been really good recently and HBO Max is now finally coming to the platform. The big takeaway here is that all of these devices are at or near consistently low prices, and they are all a pretty good way to upgrade older TVs to the latest streaming platforms.

Note that prices and availability were accurate at the time of publication, but they may fluctuate.

The Roku Streaming Stick Plus 4K is our favorite streamer, and with only $ 30, it will be pretty untouchable in terms of value for money. Stick offers hundreds of apps, the excellent Roku interface and a robust, voice-controlled remote control. Read our Roku Streaming Stick Plus review.

It’s not a 2020 model like the two above, but this is still the best deal. It’s the only Firestick with the ability to play 4K HDR video, and with only $ 2 more than the standard non-4K jack, it’s worth the investment, even if you do not already have a 4K TV. See our Fire TV Stick 4K review.

Google’s new Chromecast with Google TV has a lot to like, including an updated interface, 4K HDR with Dolby Vision support, a true remote control and excellent integration with Google Assistant. In an exclusive deal with the Google Store, the search giant gathers its usually $ 50 streamer with a six-month Netflix plan for $ 90. The deal is available to both new and existing Netflix subscribers. Read our Chromecast with Google TV Review.

Roku SE in 2019 is a barebones Roku that can handle all your streaming needs. It’s not as fast as Streaming Stick Plus and does not include Roku’s more useful enhanced remote control (which has a microphone for voice control and does not require you to point directly at the TV). It also lacks 4K support and new features like AirPlay. However, it is only $ 17 and should be fine for basic streaming.

The SE is pretty much identical to the $ 25 Roku Express except for the white color.

The big thing missing from the Fire TV Stick Lite is a remote control that controls the power and volume of your TV. Fire TV Stick in 2020 has that remote control, and for Amazon’s Black Friday sale it’s marked from $ 40 to $ 28. But unless you really want to save $ 2, get Fire TV Stick 4K (below) instead, which adds support of 4K TV resolution for the mix.

The Fire TV Cube combines an Alexa voice-controlled speaker, a Fire TV 4K video streamer, and a universal remote control into one device. If you like using your voice to control the TV – not to mention other devices in your Alexa-friendly household – it may well be worth taking the plunge on this interesting all-in-one product, marked from $ 120 to $ 80. Note that this is the latest (2019) version, which has added some great improvements since we first rated it in 2018. Read more about Fire TV Cube.

Fire TV remake is one of the easiest ways to record and stream over-the-air TV. It integrates seamlessly with a Fire TV Stick, and with a $ 100 discount, it’s an incredible bargain.

Last month we saw many deals on the Roku Ultra end of life, but the 2020 model has hardly been out and it is already being discounted. From what we’ve seen, it’s a significant upgrade – with Dolby Vision and better wireless performance – and at $ 70 it’s going to be pretty big.

Want a Chromecast but don’t care about the new Google TV software or remote? Google’s former Chromecast drops to $ 19 at Walmart for Black Friday. This seems to be the regular Chromecast – not the 4K compatible Chromecast Ultra – but if you don’t mind running apps from your phone, tablet or computer, this is a good and inexpensive choice. Oh, and $ 5 in Vudu credit is also included. Read our Chromecast review.

Expired (for now)

Roku’s exclusive version of Ultra for Walmart has dropped to $ 48. Although it’s the 2019 version, it’s usually sold for $ 79 and is a capable Roku box that packs in 4K HDR support, an Ethernet connector and includes a remote control with a headphone jack for private listening. While it largely corresponds to the main Ultra, unfortunately, the Ultra LT drops the remote finder function and programmable keys on the remote control.
