In another pin-up photo, the now blonde Eilish is seen posing in a beige Burberry trench coat with matching corset, stockings and high heels. On the cover, the confident 19-year-old singer wears a satin pink corset and see-through skirt by Gucci accompanied by a lacy bra and latex gloves.
The photoshoot, led by Vogue style director Dena Giannini, is a dramatic departure from the pop star’s usual baggy clothes. The article reveals that Eilish was approaching Vogue with the idea of transforming her image by embracing a “classic, old-fashioned pin-up” look inspired by model Betty Brosmer and photographers Horst P. Horst and Elmer Batters.
“I have literally never done anything in this area at all,”
Eilish predicts that the transforming photos may be criticized. If you’re about body positivity, why wear the cross? Why would not you show your actual body? She tells the magazine. “My thing is, I can do what I want.”
The Grammy-winning pop star adds: “It’s about what makes you feel good. If you want surgery, you need surgery. If you want to wear a dress that someone thinks you look too big, wear it. If you want to look good, you look good. ”
June 2021 edition of British Vogue will be available on May 7th.
Eilish’s new look coincides with the recent announcement of his upcoming second album, Happier than ever, due July 30 through Darkroom and Interscope Records. Last week, the artist dropped her new folk music single “Your Power”, in which she condemns anyone who has abused their power and has not realized the consequences of their actions.
