For the third time in four seasons, the Bears are hiring a defensive coordinator.
Chuck Pagano is retiring according to several league sources. The longtime defensive coach and former Colts head coach has run the Bears’ defense the past two seasons. It ranked in the top 10 both seasons of the Football Outsiders DVOA metric.
It’s Matt Nagy who is hired as he and GM Ryan Pace are expected to return for the 2021 season.
