AJ Haefele

A.J. Haefele was born in Aurora, Colorado, grew up in Katy, Texas and is the aviation editor and editor of BSN Denver.

Education: A.J. studied at Stephen F. Austin State University before moving back to Colorado in 2009.

Career: Before joining BSN Denver, A.J. had written and managed short the popular avalanche blog, Mile High Hockey. A.J. began contributing in 2010 with detailed practice reports, training camp coverage, and in-depth look at Colorado's divisions. He would expand his horizons with free agency analysis, draft coverage, and more daily looks at the team before taking over the blog as Co-Managing Editor. It was a short-lived residence at the top before BSN Denver called.

Most memorable sporting momentum: Ray Bourque raised the Stanley Cup in 2001

. John Elway wins his first Super Bowl is a very close second, but the Bourque winner Cup and finishing "Mission 16W" is one of the greatest stories in all sports.

The finest sports book I've ever read: Big fan of "Moneyball". The implications of the sport and the inside look at how an organization changed its attitude to exploit an inefficiency in the market, fascinating.

A sports movie that I can't live without: There's not really anything I don't like. Major League and Cool Runnings were my favorites growing up, but Miracle and Goon have been my favorites as an adult. Also can't live without Rocky and Now Creed movies.

Most memorable experience as a reporter: Covering NHL Draft 2017 was a dream that was true to me. I have always wanted to participate in a draft, and I have to do that while covering the team that chooses the fourth parent. Interviewing Cale Makar after he was elected is something I will never forget.

The sport that started everything: Baseball! My father was a huge baseball fan and when the Rockies were present, it was an instant bond for both of us and created sports fanaticism that has defined most of my life.
