The gunman who killed five people at an Aurora, Illinois factory opened fire on his colleagues during his termination, the authorities said. Gary Martin had brought a gun to the meeting and started killing colleagues in the living room right after his firing, CNN reported. Martin then entered Henry Pratt Cos's warehouse and fired on several employees in what would turn out to be a 90-minute rampage. Six people were injured by the balls, including five police. Police responding to the scene killed Martin during the shootout.
It is unclear whether Martin knew about his firing in advance. But company officials said he had been disciplined before. "To be in the final step, he would have gone through previous [disciplinary] steps," said Scott Hall, CEO of Chat's parent company, Mueller Water Products.
