At least 28 Haitians drowned outside the Bahamas on Sunday during a migrant smuggling, officials said. According to the US Embassy in Haiti, 28 Haitians drowned and 17 were rescued from the water. The tragedy happened when Haitians were on a vessel that was traded out of Haiti. "Please encourage families and communities: Illegal immigrants and smuggling are dangerous and often end in tragedy," wrote the US Embassy in their Twitter account. Two people were rescued alive on Sunday morning near Fish Hawk Cay near the Bahamas.
