It has been a pile of mobile operators to offer inclusions to new phones, and now Asus has brought the model to PC Gamers with their new Trade Up Your Graphics program. With this new program, customers can upgrade to the latest and greatest Nvidia cards more cheaply.
The program only applies to purchasing Asus brand graphics cards at the moment, but includes the ROG, TUF, Dual, Phoenix and Turbo families of cards. Customers who buy one of these cards can trade into an older graphics card and receive a cash discount upon approval of their requirements.
Cash for Scrap
The program allows customers to trade with any Nvidia GeForce card starting from GTX 650 upwards. Unfortunately, for all of you AMD owners, only Radeon RX 480 and RX 580 appear to be eligible for the program at the moment.
The graphics cards are ranked in tiers: Good, Better and Best. These ties are not based on the card's physical condition, but rather the card's chipset and are of any brand. As you might expect, the higher the level, the greater the discount.
For example, a GTX 1080 Ti of any brand falls in the best tier and can earn you up to 270 pounds or about $ 340. The AMD cards fall in the better category with the GTX 980 and 980Ti, which would cost you An approximate $ 133. Lower tier card like GTX 650 and GTX 750Ti fall into good category and can earn you a small $ 44.
But don't worry about guessing how much your card will cost you. There is a handy calculator on the Asus Trade Up site where you can know how much you can expect to get.
How it works
To use the Trade Up program, customers only need to buy an Asus graphics card. Once done, they have up to 30 days of purchase to complete a claim containing details such as proof of previous purchases and their bank details.
Once the claim has been received and validated, it is approved. Customers receive an e-mail for the approval, and a handy porto label is also sent via e-mail, which makes a ship's delivery ready. They have up to 45 days to send in their old graphics card to Asus.
Of course, Asus will check the old graphics card, and if it meets their approval standard, the discount will be sent by bank transfer. While the whole process can take anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months from start to finish, it's a simple procedure.
A great upside to the program beyond the obvious discount is that players no longer have the trouble of selling an old graphics card on eBay or having it collect dust in their basement. Shrewd owners might be able to get a better deal by selling it themselves, but for everyone else, trading is doing well.
At the time of this writing, promotion seems to be limited to the UK, but we expect this to grow to other regions in the near future.
