Citing supply chain sources, acclaimed Japanese site Macotakara has revealed Apple is working to make dual Bluetooth audio support in its new iPhones. This would enable them to send audio to two Bluetooth devices simultaneously, something which has significant real-world benefits.

Perhaps the most obvious capitalises on the popular trend of friends sharing a pair of AirPods. With dual Bluetooth audio, both friends would be able to wear their own set of AirPods (or any wireless headphones). Macotakara states Apple's implementation can also split Bluetooth signals so, for example, one iPhone can be connected to a car's infotainment system (or Apple CarPlay) for GPS directions while also transmitting music to someone using headphones. And these are just two of many, many usage scenarios.

Furthermore, we are not talking about cutting edge technology here. Samsung has been building dual audio Bluetooth in its flagship smartphones since the Galaxy S8. Interestingly, Samsung also states dual audio enabled on any device with Bluetooth 5 which includes the iPhone 8, iPhone X and iPhone XS

This means Apple could, theoretically, upgrade its last two generations of iPhones to dual audio with an iOS update at some stage. That said, i'm surprised if it did because right now the company needs differentiators if it wants people to buy it only-a-mother-can-love iphone 11 and iphone's xr designs .

How reliable in Macotakara? The site does have misses, but its hit rate is consistently high thanks to deep links into Apple's Asian supply chain. It is also famous for being the first to leak Apple's decision to drop the headphone jack. So, the site is always worth taking seriously.

Despite all this, my smart still stands: the smart money ship Apple's new iPhones because we know the company has something far more exciting planned next year .
