The latest firmware update for Apple’s AirPods Pro and second generation AirPods has arrived, bringing with it at least a few long-awaited features. For AirPods Pro, build number 3A283 builds spatial sound, which enables a surround sound effect for a cinema-like experience. The technology giant did not release a feature log for the firmware, however AppleInsider was able to confirm that it adds a spatial sound setting to the AirPods Pro Bluetooth menu.
When turned on, the earphone accelerometer tracks your head so that the sound remains steady even when you turn your head. Apple first revealed that it is releasing spatial sound for the Pro earbuds back in June during its WWDC virtual keynote, where it also announced that it rolled out an AirPods feature that allows you to automatically switch between Apple devices. This is the second capability that comes with firmware 3A283.
