DENVER (AP) – The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment reports that another child has died of influenza in the state this year.
KUSA TV reports that the latest death was reported during the week ending February 16. The first death was reported in the week ending January 12.
Specific victim information was not released except they were under 18 years of age.
The latest data from the Colorado agency shows that just over 2,000 people have been admitted to the flu since the beginning of the 2018-19 season. A majority of these admissions are between children from birth to 4 years and adults over 65 years of age.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report that this season vaccination is about 47 percent effective, with the high season still in place.
