Amazon's headphones are said to allow people to talk to Alexa, the company's smart voice assistant. Apple's AirPods lets users talk to Siri and request something from songs to weather. The latest version of AirPods released last month makes it easier for people to say "Hey Siri" instead of touching the side of AirPods. Other products, such as Samsung's new Galaxy Buds, let users talk to Google Assistant. Also, Bose already sells a model of headphones with Alexa built-in, QC 35 II.
Access to Alexa could be more appealing to people than access to Siri, since Alexa can be used to order products from Amazon and provide updates on when they arrive, for example. The Amazon ecosystem is also more open than Apple, which means that people can use Alexa to listen to a variety of music services, including Pandora, Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon Music.
