The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has turned its controversial decision to hand out four Oscars during telecast's commercial breaks. People close to the group told Variety Variety Variety ].
After a Thursday evening meeting with top filmographers, the Academy's management, including President John Bailey and CEO Dawn Hudson, promised to fly all the awards on the live show one week from Sunday.
The Academy stood firm for days against serious setbacks by filmmakers in four categories: filmography, movie editing, live action shorts and hair and makeup. The group is confused, said one of the incidents, when the Academy's membership voted and approved this decision last August.
Open letters from A-list talent revealed the movement as reductive and abusive proved too much to handle. The display will now run for three hours as a result, added to the source.
