Russian dissident Alexei Navalny on Tuesday released a photograph of himself in a German hospital bed surrounded by family members – who appears to be recovering from poisoning.
“Hi, this is Navalny. I miss you, “Navalny wrote in Russian on Instagram, adding that he still can not do anything – but managed to breathe on his own all day Monday.
“I did not use any outside help, not even the simplest valve in the throat. I liked it, ”he told his supporters from Berlin’s Charite Hospital, surrounded by his wife and other relatives.
On Monday, the Kremlin critic – who fell fatally ill after drinking alleged poisoned tea at a Siberian airport on his way to Moscow last month ̵
“He does not plan to go into exile in Germany,” a senior German security officer told The New York Times. “He wants to go home to Russia and he will continue his mission.
“He is fully aware of his condition, he is fully aware of what happened and he is fully aware of where he is,” the officer added to the 44-year-old activist.
Navalny had flown to Germany to be treated two days after being poisoned.
His family insists the poisoning was the Kremlin’s job, but Russian authorities deny the allegations.
News of Navalny’s refusal to stay away from Russia came hours after specialist laboratories in France and Sweden independently confirmed that he had been poisoned by Novichok, a nerve agent who is an alleged favorite of Moscow’s intelligence forces.
