Actress of Will Smith: ‘I Lost Everything’

(Newser)
– It seems that the fresh prince and aunt Viv are finally good again. In an HBO Max reunion special for The fresh prince of Bel AirWill Smith and former co-star Janet Hubert sat down in front of former cast to clear the air, E! Online reports. “We never really talk in public about Janet and what happened,” Smith told the audience. “And to me, it felt like I could not celebrate 30 years of Fresh Prince without finding a way to celebrate Janet.”

; Their feud dates back to 1993, when Hubert says she struggled with a newborn baby and a “violent” unemployed man, per. New York Post. Her mood plummeted, the show made her on a contract and she was let go. Hubert has since blasted Smith, calling him selfish (and worse). Now, the reunion:

  • Hubert: “Home life was not good at all. I no longer laughed, smiled and shot because there were things going on that no one knew about. Cast had no idea what was going on.”
  • Smith: “During that time of her pregnancy I was not sensitive, was not attentive. Now that I have had three children, I have learned some things that I did not know at the time. I wanted to do things very differently. I can see where I made the set very difficult for Janet. “
  • Hubert: “Words can kill. I lost everything. Reputation. Everything, everything. I understand that you were able to move on. You know these words – calling a black woman ‘difficult’ in Hollywood is deadly. It’s hard enough to be a dark-haired black woman in this industry. I felt it was necessary for us to finally move on. And I’m sorry I blew you to pieces. “
  • Smith: “The person I want to be is someone who protects you, not someone who frees dogs on you.”
  • Hubert: “We are good.”

Cast followed it up with a big group hug. (Read about a Hollywood heartbreaker that “burned bridges.”)
