Netflix released a new series about Carmen Sandiego, and it is a 90-dream that is in order

Dust your CD-ROMs, Gumshoes. A new show about Carmen Sandiego hit Netflix today and you are feeling so nostalgic. The series traces the origins of the red-haired, red-plated icon, from her days as a spunky teen thief to her present-day mission to abolish the crime organization V.I.L.E. That's right, everywhere. Carmen Sandiego was actually one of the good guys.

Are your ACME detective senses already pricking? There is more. Each episode contains "Quick Facts That Will Make Every Child a Jeopardy Pro," according to the press release of the show. So yes, all these years later, Carmen and her henchmen continue to give us a better geography education than we did in the middle school (well, those and the Oregon Trail).

Netflix also set up a site called thecarmeneffect.com, which gives an in-depth look at the enduring influence Carmen Sandiego has had on the world. Personally, the lasting influence Carmen had on my world was that I could never pass by, like the fourth level of the video game, and I'm still furious about it.

Suk. That music. The dreamy aesthetics. All the adventure. We should all probably put our best trench coats and go save some precious works of art from all the evil members of V.I.L.E.

A Carmen Sandiego Netflix series is here and it's a 90's dream that gets real

To add sharpness to the top of hardness, Netflix Carmen Sandiego is voiced by Gina Rodriguez. She wrote a picture of herself dressed as the thief on Instagram, and has anyone ever looked so cool? Investing in a bright red hat right away.

Voicing the iconic animated character means a lot to Rodriguez who played the video game as a child. "My parents are great for education, so learning about geography was great," she told entertainment weekly. "And then for her to be Latina – and voted [on the series] by my Queen Rita Moreno – it made such an imprint on me."

In addition, she noted in the Netflix press release that she is excited about introducing a whole new generation of children to Carmen.

"My sisters and I grew up playing Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego? We didn't know who she was or why she did the things she did, but she was this clever, wise Latina woman who came out into the world and looked at all kinds of places and explored different cultures, "said Rodriguez." And now I'm fortunate enough to extend the story of a character that still inspires me every day, children do not just introduce her adventures, but also revealing new details about her past. "

Welp, it's time for all of us to head to ACME and start solving some cases. Carmen is waiting.
