CBS has released a new clip of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s highly anticipated sit-down with Oprah Winfrey, in which Markle says of Buckingham Palace, “I do not know how they could expect that after all this time we would still just be quiet. “
“What do you think about the palace hearing your speech your truth today?” Winfrey asks as violets dramatically begin to swell in the background.
“I do not know how they could expect that after all this time we would still be silent if there is an active role that the company plays in perpetuating lies about us,” says Markle, using a nickname for royals allegedly derived from King George VI.
“And if it comes with the risk of losing things,”
Much of the conversation surrounding this week’s interview has been monopolized by accusations against Markle, 39, that she bullied at least two palace assistants during her short time within the company. The Times of London quoted sources as saying that the Duchess of Sussex actually reduced staff to tears during her Kensington Palace term.
Markle called the allegations a “calculated smear campaign” tailored to the Winfrey narrative when Buckingham Palace announced an investigation into the allegations Wednesday.
Markle and Harry left the royal family and moved Stateside in a breathlessly covered decision in January 2020 called “Megxit.”
